The ‘Cruiser’. Perfect for a relaxing paddle on flat water. It has a relatively flat centre section allowing good glide, meaning its equally suited to longer distance touring and exploring on both inland and coastal waters. You could even try out a few yoga moves on a warm summers evening…
Great in the surf too, being manoeuvrable enough to provide long board style performance.

Paddles
All Planed paddles are hand-crafted right here in our workshop, they are all made to measure to fit you perfectly. They are made to our exacting standards with an emphasis on lightness and comfort. Our ‘Root to Ride’ philosophy continues with our paddles, they are all glued and glassed using the same bio-resins.
The benefits of a wooden paddle are three-fold. They are gorgeous to look at, beautiful to handle but above all, they offer great performance.
Unlike carbon-fibre paddle shafts, which are very stiff, a wooden paddle shaft has plenty of flex. This can help in the power stroke transferring energy from the flex making it easier on the arms and less tiring. They are laminated from 5-6 thinner strips of cedar, making them extremely strong and surprisingly lightweight.
Planed paddle and surfboards are hand-crafted on the beautiful Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. There is plenty of creative inspiration as we are located on the Jurrasic Coast with its fantastic surf spots and sheltered waters of Poole Harbour.
Our paddle and surfboards are created using a plywood/recycled foam fishbone spine and ribs, which are hollowed out to make them as light as possible, but still retaining the strength required to withstand the stresses involved with surfing and flat water paddling.
